Southwold is charming at any time of year whether you want to have fun on the beach or a bracing walk along the promenade on a winter’s afternoon.   • Climb the lighthouse for a birds eye view of Southwold

  • Visit the Alfred Corry Museum at the harbour to see what a traditional lifeboat looked like then cross the road to admire the modern lifeboat

  • Admire models of sailing ships and find out more about Southwold’s maritime history in the Sailors’ Reading Room on East Cliff

  • Learn about amber and view extraordinary artefacts made from amber at the Amber Shop in the Market Place

  • Book up for the Southwold Summer Theatre for a different play every fortnight throughout the summer 

  • Watch classic and contemporary films in the extraordinary Electric Picture Palace -

  • Walk up the coast towards Covehithe for a graphic illustration of coastal erosion in action

  • Visit St Edmunds Church in Southwold and explore some of the other wonderful old churches in the areas including the ‘cathedral of the marshes’ at Blythburgh with its ceiling of carved angels, the ruined church at Covehithe and the church within a church at Walberswick

  • Taste the iconic local ale on a tour of the Adnams Brewery or find out about the distilling of gin and vodka in the amazing giant copper still -
